Let's face it, whether its autumn, winter, spring or summer you can never guarantee the weather in the UK. But whether its sunshine or snow its not necessarily a bad thing if you’re looking for a moody landscape. WWT wetland centres are perfect subjects, come rain or shine.
Photographs entered into this category MUST have been taken at one of WWT's nine wetland wildlife centres and be entered in the correct seasonal heat in which they were taken.
After each seasonal heat closes, the entries will be shortlisted and a winner chosen from each of WWT's nine wetland wildlife centres. Winners from each of the four seasonal heats will go through to the national finals to be held in autumn 2012.
The national winner of the Wetland Landscapes category will win a 6 night nature photography workshop in Cumbria in 2013 to the value of £660, inclusive of accommodation, tuition, food and excursions, courtesy of Lakeland Photo Holidays Ltd. And as if that wasn't enough of a fantastic prize, the lucky winner will also receive a head-to-toe kit comprising 3-in-1 jacket, overtrousers, base layer, boots and rucksack worth up to £400, courtesy of Regatta.
Lakeland Photographic Holidays has been established for 24 years and is privately owned by John and Gail Gravett. They provide a dedicated photographic centre in one of the most beautiful parts of the English Lake District and offer a range of digital photography workshops to photographers of all abilities. The prize of one of Lakeland's nature photography workshops will focus on the flora and fauna of the Lake District. Locations may include a bird reserve, the side of a lake where there might be good damselfly and dragonfly numbers, or woodland to hunt for fungi, mosses and lichens.
