Chris Packham

Chris Packham, a WWT photography competition veteran judge, is a television presenter, wildlife expert, photographer and author with a passionate concern for conservation and the environment. Chris became a household name after appearing on shows such as the Really Wild Show and more recently, Natures Calendar and he is involved with numerous conservation charities including the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, where he is Vice President.

 

 

 

Iain Green

Wildlife photographer, Iain Green, has for much of the past decade studied tigers in India, but now, conscientiously aware of the problems that long haul travel entails, takes an interest in the surrounding nature that’s local to him. With a number of his photography studies published, his book, Wild London, showcases the fascinating diversity found within the city – inhabiting ancient woodlands or living in 10 Downing Street. Iain regularly runs photography courses at WWT centres, helping others discover the joy of wildlife photography.

 

 

 

David Fidler

David Fidler is a Professional Imaging Account Manager at Canon UK working with some of the UK's top wildlife photographers. He is responsible for driving business in the nature and wildlife market, and his photography experience spans over a decade.

 

 

 

 

Martin Spray

Martin Spray has been Chief Executive of WWT since 2003. He has been on the judging panel of WWT photography competitions for several years. As WWT’s CEO, he is building on all his past experiences to confirm the Trust as a leading international conservation organisation - protecting endangered wildlife, promoting the value of sustainable wetland management, conducting leading edge scientific research and giving people of all ages new and engaging opportunities to engage with the natural world for mutual benefit.

Sheena Harvey is Editor of Bird Watching magazine and a regular on the judging panel of WWT photography competitions.

Sophie Stafford

Sophie Stafford has been the Editor of BBC Wildlife Magazine for seven years. For the past six years, she has been a judge on the magazine’s prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, which is co-owned with the Natural History Museum, London. She is an affiliate of the International League of Conservation Photographers (ILCP) and, this year, was invited to join the nature jury of the famous World Press Photo awards in Amsterdam. Every month, she works closely with photographers from around the world to develop stories for the magazine. www.discoverwildlife.com

 

Danny Green

Danny is an accomplished photographer and has always been interested in nature and the outdoors from a young age, so nature photography seemed a perfect path to follow to enjoy both.His images are regularly published in magazines like BBC Wildlife,the RSPB’s Birds and Outdoor Photography. He is also represented by some of the leading picture agencies in the country. Danny has received numerous awards for his photography; several having been awarded category winners in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition. In 2007 he was the overall winner in the IWP awards and in 2009 won the Bird Category in Natures Best. Danny also hosts one to one and group photographer workshops.

Charlie Hamilton-James

Charlie Hamilton James is a photographer, television cameraman and presenter, specialising in wildlife subjects. He started his career at 16, working on Sir David Attenborough’s The Trials of Life series. His work has since been commissioned by National Geographic Magazine, the BBC's Springwatch/ Autumnwatch shows and The Natural World and he now works primarily with his wife, Philippa Forrester and their production company, Halcyon Media, most famous for the Halcyon River Diaries series.

Charlie says: "My aim as a wildlife cameraman and photographer is to expose the brilliance of nature to the world. I am constantly staggered and inspired by nature both in its design and its beauty, it's led to a life long obsession to understand it and document it."

Dr Debbie Pain

Debbie Pain is WWT’s Director of Conservation and has overseen projects such as WWT’s continued efforts to try and save the Magagascar Pochard, the world’s rarest duck, from extinction. Debbie maintains strong links in international research and has authored many publications, the latest being Facing Extinction: the world’s rarest birds.

 

 

 

Chris Rostron

Chris Rostron is the Head of Wetland Link International, a programme that is a global network of wetland education centres. The network defines a wetland education centre as, "any place where there is interaction between people and wildlife and CEPA (communications, education and public awareness) activity occurs in support of wetland conservation aims", which he is involved with on a global scale.

 

 

 

Prof. Nick Davidson

Judging the World Wetlands category is Nick Davidson, who has been Deputy Secretary General of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands since 2000. With over 30 years experience of research on wetland ecology, conservation and migratory waterbirds, Nick continues to contribute to this area and is a Professor at the InstituteofLand, Water and Society, Charles Sturt University, Australia.
